Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between a Dietitian and a Nutritionist?

All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians. Dietitians are qualified by completing an applicable science degree to become accredited.

Not all nutritionists are accredited, and may have minimal qualifications.

After completing a 4-5 year degree at an Australian university, Accredited Practising Dietitians(APD) have to complete regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD), to remain accredited. APDs follow a strict code of conduct and adhere to national competency standards.

Always do your research when looking for a health professional, you can rely on an Accredited Practising Dietitian, to ensure the information you are receiving is evidenced based and backed by science.
